What is Medical Genetics?
Medical genetics is a medical subspecialty focused on providing clinical diagnostic services, medical management, genetic counseling, resources and referrals for children who have or are at risk for a genetic condition or birth defect.
The Region’s Only Comprehensive Genetic Services
Children’s Hospital at Erlanger is the region’s only provider of comprehensive pediatric medical genetics services. We have the region’s only medical geneticist who is board-certified and licensed. We provide comprehensive genetic evaluation, counseling, risk assessment and testing when appropriate for a variety of indications including, but not limited to:
- Birth defects and genetic syndromes
- Developmental delay/intellectual impairment
- Family history of a known or suspected genetic disorder
